Policy Fellow

SOFIA BARAJAS (she/her/hers) is a rising junior majoring in Cognitive Science and minoring in Labor Studies. As an incoming Research Department Fellow, she is eager to explore topics pertaining to the intersections of human behavior, social structures, and equity. 

Sofia has interned at the County of Ventura, serving under the Benefits Department. In her time there, she became confident in employee benefits and workers’ rights. At the UCLA Labor Center, Sofia contributed to the Workers and Learners 2024 Project, familiarizing herself with surveying, interviewing, and quantitative analysis. Most recently, Sofia served as a Research Assistant at the Academic Advancement Program (AAP) in the Research, Assessment, and Evaluation unit (RAE). In this position, Sofia utilized de-identified data sets with over 800+ responses to write reports focusing on campus climate and sense of belonging.

On campus, Sofia is a member of Phi Lambda Rho, a Latina sorority dedicated to sisterhood, philanthropy, academics, and culture. She serves as Professional Development Chair, fostering a space of confidence in professional spaces. 

Sofia is from Oxnard, California, and hopes to pursue a career in the intersection of human behavior and public policy.
