Policy Fellow

ROMMEL MENDOZA (he/him) is a fourth-year undergraduate student majoring in Political Science and Chicano Studies. An incoming Policy Fellow within the UCLA LPPI Research Department, Rommel is passionate about advancing the Latino community and has a strong interest in immigration and economic policy. 

At UCLA, Rommel is an active member of Hermanos Unidos, and member of the Riordan College to Career program at the Anderson School of Management. He recently completed a government affairs summer internship with Marvell Technologies in Washington, D.C., and a political affairs internship for The Borgen Project last winter. Prior to this school year, Rommel worked as a departmental intern for the Community Programs Office at UCLA, and served as the director of the Advocacy committee for the student-run organization COMPAS. He has received a Certificate of Recognition from the California Latino Legislative Caucus for outstanding work in the organization. 

Rommel is a first-generation college student. He is the proud son of Mexican immigrants from Michoacán, and grew up in Garden Grove, CA.
