Latino Data Hub Unveils New Upgrades, Kicking Off a Series of Summer Updates
New Upgrade Introduces Additional Issue Area, Indicators, and Analytical Functions

LOS ANGELES (Thursday, July 17, 2025) – The UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute (UCLA LPPI) has released its 2025 update to the Latino Data Hub (LDH), expanding the platform’s capacity to analyze and visualize the conditions shaping Latino life across the United States. With new indicators and improved functionality, this update is designed to help users better understand the diverse experiences of Latino communities and advocate for change.

The update incorporates the latest 2023 five-year American Community Survey (ACS) data, along with new administrative data vital to the Latino community, and responds to user feedback with key updates, including:

  • Expanded Education Indicators: New metrics for K–12 English Learners (number and percentage) and high school graduation rates added.
  • Enhanced Child Wellbeing Section: New administrative data showing the number of unaccompanied immigrant children released to sponsors by state in fiscal year 2024.
  • New Indicator on Automation Risk: The LDH now features a first-of-its-kind measure identifying Latino workers employed in occupations most at risk of automation to help communities, policymakers, and advocates anticipate and respond to one of the most rapidly changing structural shifts in the labor market.
  • Transportation Updates: New metrics on household vehicle availability and added data on different modes of transportation to work, impacting economic mobility.
  • Redesigned Filter Function and Inclusion of Additional Filters: The LDH team redesigned the filter function to be more intuitive to users and added five new filters, including sex, disability status, entrepreneurs, high automation risk jobs, and hourly wage.
  • More Breakdown Options: Users can further disaggregate data by homeownership and disability status.

This year’s additions reflect clear calls from the field—for better disability data, deeper educational insights, and more tools to assess structural risks like automation and access to transportation,” said Jie Zong, manager of the Latino Data Hub and senior research analyst at LPPI. “We’ve made it easier than ever to surface community-specific insights that support real-world decision-making.”

“In an environment where federal data is becoming harder to access, it’s vital that public tools like ours continue to democratize information and protect visibility into Latino communities,” added Rodrigo Dominguez-Villegas, director of the Latino Data Hub and director of research at LPPI.

Accompanying the update is a series of accessibility improvements, including an enhanced tutorial page and a new feature that allows users to duplicate custom charts for easier comparisons. As always, all new features and data are available in English and Spanish to ensure as many community members as possible can access these important insights.

These upgrades mark just the beginning of a summer of new releases from the Latino Data Hub. In late July, we’ll unveil new resources and guides to help users make the most of the platform’s expanded features. Later this summer, we will launch congressional district–level data, providing an even more detailed lens into Latino communities nationwide.

Finally, we invite everyone to join us on August 12 for a special webinar showcasing these updates and demonstrating how the Latino Data Hub can support research, advocacy, and community-driven action. Stay tuned—and discover what’s possible when data and community come together.
