Hawaii County should be doing more to provide better resources to their growing and sizable community of Filipino and Japanese citizens. Based on UCLA VRP data, there is strong evidence indicating that Hawaii County should be covered by the Section 203 Voting Rights Act, specifically for Tagalog and Japanese-speaking language communities. UCLA VRP hopes Hawaii County can remedy the lack of language access resources to Tagalog and Japanese communities before upcoming elections.
