Alberto is the director of communications at the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute, where he leads strategic messaging and public engagement to advance data-driven policy solutions that improve the lives of Latino communities nationwide.

With more than 25 years of experience in communications and public relations, Alberto has shaped winning strategies at the intersection of politics, research, litigation, and social justice. He has led national campaigns for political candidates, civil rights organizations, and research institutions, creating narratives that drive change and influence public discourse.

At LPPI, Alberto has played a central role in launching high-profile initiatives, including the Latino Data Hub, a first-of-its-kind public data resource that expands access to policy-relevant data on Latino communities, and the Latino Climate and Health Dashboard, which connects environmental and health data to support frontline climate advocacy.

Prior to joining LPPI, Alberto worked with institutions such as Color Of Change, the University of Southern California, the MacArthur Foundation, and the Southern Poverty Law Center. He served as National Press Secretary for Tom Steyer’s 2020 presidential campaign and led media efforts for the Cato Institute, Need to Impeach, and the National Center for Lesbian Rights.

Earlier in his career, he was Senior Director of Publicity at HarperCollins Publishers in New York and a spokesperson for Consumer Reports magazine. He is a graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania.
