    Although these efforts are often associated with the South, voter suppression can occur “anywhere and everywhere,” said Sonni Waknin, an attorney for the UCLA Voting Rights Project. Chad Dunn, the project’s co-founder and legal director, said Eastern Washington, in particular, has a history of government discrimination toward a Latino population that has formed the basis of its agricultural workforce and has grown to become an integral part of the community in general.
