Overview:

A lawsuit was filed against California after Governor Newsom issued an executive order that would allow California voters to vote-by-mail in this upcoming November election. This executive order was done in response to COVID-19. This way, California voters are able to vote in a safer and more accessible manner. California Democrats saw this as the right thing to do given the global pandemic going on. However, the Republican National Committee fought back against this executive order stating that it will lead to widespread voter fraud. Additionally, they claim that Governor Newsom’s executive order creates a system that violates eligible citizens’ right to vote. Lastly, Republican National Committee states that it is a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment.
