    Contributors

San Diego County voters will soon be receiving mail ballots for the September 14 recall election. They’ll be voting on whether to boot Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom from office. KPBS metro reporter Andrew Bowen explains how the vote will work and what’s at stake for the Golden State with Sonja Diaz. Sonja Diaz is the founding director of the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Initiative. She says the weirdness of the recall election will likely discourage less frequent voters from casting ballots.
