Field Fellow

Gabriella Macias (she/her) is a first-year Master of Public Policy student at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs and a Monica Salinas Field Fellow with the UCLA Latino Policy & Politics Institute. Her experiences in federal government, higher education advocacy, and nonprofit work have shaped her interest in social, educational, criminal justice, and Latino policy.
Prior to graduate school, Gabriella served as a Congressional Intern in the Office of Representative Mike Levin and as a Legislative Intern with the University of California Office of the President in Washington, D.C. Through these roles, she conducted policy research, analyzed legislation, supported constituent services, and engaged with congressional offices on issues affecting higher education and research funding. By working directly with constituents and engaging in federal advocacy, Gabriella gained insight into how policy is both shaped and experienced, reinforcing her commitment to public service and effective policymaking.

Gabriella earned her B.A. in Political Science and Chicana/o and Central American Studies from UCLA. She is particularly interested in the federal policymaking process and how government institutions can address complex social challenges and better serve diverse communities.
