Dr. Debra D. Bragg is the founding director of the Office of Community College Research and Leadership (OCCRL) and an Edward William and Jane Marr Gutgsell Endowed Professor Emerita at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). In 2016, Dr. Bragg founded the Community College Research Initiatives group at the University of Washington (UW) where her research continues with Dr. Elizabeth Meza, senior research scientist, in the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Policy and Governance. Dr. Bragg’s research portfolio focuses on policies and programs designed to facilitate student transitions to and through education to employment, including leading studies on STEM, transfer, career-technical education, and community college bachelor’s degrees. Dr. Bragg was named a fellow in the American Educational Research Association (AERA) in 2015, and she received the Distinguished Career Award from the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) in 2016. Currently, Dr. Bragg leads Bragg & Associates, Inc., a consulting firm committed to improving education and employment outcomes for marginalized learners throughout the United States and internationally.
