We are committed to championing evidence-based policy solutions that expand genuine opportunity for all Americans by shining a spotlight on how Latinos are and are not included in policy-making.
The UCLA Voting Rights Project is the flagship project of the UCLA Latino Policy & Politics Initiative aimed at creating an accessible and equitable system of voting for all Americans through impact litigation, research, and clinical education to expand access to the ballot box.
Angela Gutierrez is a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at UCLA. Her research areas include Race Ethnicity Politics, American Politics, and Methods. Her dissertation examines the role of political threat on Latino identity and political participation. Angela believes that it is imperative that we invest in and better understand Latino political participation so that the needs of the community can be better served. For LPPI, Angela has co-authored and conducted extensive research on the Latino vote choice within California as well as overall in the midterm elections Angela’s research has been published in Political Research Quarterly. She is a 2020-2021 Marvin Hofffenburg Fellow and her research is supported by the Fund for Latino Scholarship.
