New Date: Understanding Afro-Latinx Experiences through Data Disaggregation

OMB recently announced the adoption of a single-question format to ask about race and ethnicity in future federal data collection instruments such as the Census. This decision will remove the Hispanic/Latino ethnicity question and allow survey takers to identify their race as Latino alone, possibly risking the ability to accurately disaggregate federal data for Latinos of different races, particularly Afro-Latinxs. Afro-Latinxs often face unique educational, health, and economic disparities that are obscured when data does not distinguish between different Latino racial groups

The U.S. Supreme Court decided not to review a ruling by the Washington Supreme Court that supports the Washington Voting Rights Act. This action on Gimenez v. Estudio de UCLA LPPI Resalta la Resiliencia de los Latinos en el Condado de Fresno

El Latino Data Hub del Instituto de Política Pública de UCLA (UCLA LPPI por sus siglas en inglés), publicó una estudio informativo en la que analiza las características socioeconómicas de la población latina del Condado de Fresno, entre las que se incluyen el empleo, propiedad de vivienda, y niveles de pobreza. La hoja informativa titulada “Datos sobre los Latinos en el Condado de Fresno, California,” utilizó datos del Latino Data Hub derivados de la muestra de cinco años de la Encuesta sobre la Comunidad Estadounidense (ACS por sus siglas en inglés) del 2021 elaborada por el Buró del Censo de los Estados Unidos.
