Yene Solomon (she/her) is a Master of Social Welfare (MSW) student at UCLA with a concentration in health and mental health. She is passionate about advancing health equity, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive services for underserved communities, particularly Black and immigrant populations.
Yene has served as a counselor for system-involved youth, she has provided crisis intervention and support services to survivors of domestic violence, and is an incoming intern at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center, where she will support adult inpatient units. Her experiences in social work and crisis response have shaped her interest in interventions and mental health services rooted in community care and cultural humility. She completed her undergraduate studies at San Jose State University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Digital Media in Mass Communications.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Yene is a first-generation Ethiopian-American woman. As someone who has navigated public behavioral health systems both personally and professionally, she is committed to reshaping how care is delivered to historically marginalized populations. Through her work, she hopes to continue bridging the gap between systems and the communities they are meant to serve.
