Voting Rights Project Fellow

Michael S. Cohen is a member of the 2021 class at UCLA School of Law. Michael believes it is our collective responsibility to help promote policies that foster fairness and equity, expand the voting franchise, and ensure a thriving democracy. Recently, Michael co-authored UCLA Voting Rights Project: Protecting Democracy: Implementing Equal and Safe Access to the Ballot Box During a Global Pandemic, a report released in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure everyone has the right to vote by calling for a national vote-by-mail program. 

Michael has previously served in the chambers of Presiding Justice Arthur Gilbert at the California Court of Appeals and pursued a variety of work advancing accessibility to social services and public benefits. He is heavily involved with student government & political student groups and is an editor of multiple journals, including the Law Review.
