Melisa Walk
MELISA WALK (she/her) is a first-year Master of Urban and Regional Planning student at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, concentrating in climate, environment, and society. Her work centers on advancing environmental justice through equitable policy and community-based planning. As an incoming LPPI Policy Fellow within the Research Department, she brings expertise in sustainable mobility, plastic policy, and community-led environmental research.
Melisa has designed and managed clean transportation programs, including the first free electric bike lending library in Los Angeles County. She has also conducted research and policy advocacy on leaded aviation emissions, plastic pollution, and climate impacts on communities facing the worst of the climate crisis. She currently works with Voces Unidas, a storytelling initiative dedicated to uplifting the San Fernando Valley and its people through tangible connections, collaboration, and action.
Before attending UCLA, she double-majored in Environmental Economics & Policy and Society & the Environment at the University of California, Berkeley. Her education centered around the intersectionality of environmental studies, economics, and social movements in the United States, solidifying her commitment to radical and sustainable solutions to the climate crisis.
