Chief Advancement Officer, Latinos for Education

 Julene Pérez is the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) at Latinos for Education, leading the External Affairs team for this national organization dedicated to creating leadership pathways for Latinos in education. Previously, she was the Vice President for Development and External Relations at the American Constitution Society, and before that, she held the position of Vice President for External Relations and Education Programs at Hispanics in Philanthropy. She has also been a grant maker at both the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, where she played a pivotal role in a $100 million preschool initiative and managed a youth-serving grantmaking portfolio across California. 

Julene joined the nonprofit sector first at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) and later, with the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), where she led a campaign to establish a permanent headquarters and non-profit center in downtown Los Angeles. At NALEO, she launched a national media campaign with Univision and ABC to highlight the contributions of naturalized citizens and provide naturalization assistance to immigrants. 

Julene has also served on the Leadership Advisory of Jolt Texas, the board of directors for MomsRising, Hispanics in Philanthropy, and the Foundation Consortium for California’s Children and Youth. Julene earned her BA from the University of San Francisco and her Master’s in International Affairs, Economic and Political Development from Columbia University.
