Francisco Pedraza
Dr. Francisco I. Pedraza is an Associate Professor at Arizona State University’s School of Politics and Global Studies and the Associate Director of the ASU Center for Latina/os and American Politics Research (CLAPR). He examines political attitude formation and political behavior among racial and ethnic minorities in the United States, and the consequences these portend for public policy. His research uncovers links between immigration policy and health policy, and he specializes in the design of survey items in English language and Spanish language. Dr. Pedraza received his PhD in political science from the University of Washington in 2010.
Francisco is also a first-generation high-school graduate, first-generation college graduate, and a product of public schools from pre-K through his PhD and Post-Doctoral programs. Francisco would not have arrived to ASU without support from state and federally funded programs, like the summer school program for children of migrant farmworker that let him catch up on reading and math skills for four years during K-6, and the TRIO and Upward Bound programs in high school that socialized and prepared him for college studies, and the College Assistance for Migrants Program or CAMP, that taught him fundamental skills in time management and study strategies during his first year in college at Boise State University.
