Estrella C. Torres
ESTRELLA C. TORRES (she/her/hers) is a senior majoring in Political Science and minoring in Public Affairs. An incoming Policy Fellow within the UCLA LPPI Programs Department, she is passionate about improving community conditions and education for underrepresented minorities along with a strong interest in immigration policy.
At UCLA, Estrella is a Director of Yolotzonyo, a Youth and Student Empowerment Organization under MECHAdeUCLA, and an active member of the Latinx Pre-Law Club. She recently completed an internship with the City of Camarillo, where she supported their legislative affairs and local community efforts. Currently, she volunteers with a community-based watchdog and news reporting organization at The Davis Vanguard. Her professional experience within the non-profit sector has fueled her to work towards equity and justice through community organizing, advocacy, and research policy.
Estrella is first-generation Latina and a proud daughter of Mexican immigrant parents. Born and raised in Oxnard, California, she identifies with growing up in a community with a predominantly Latino population.
