Emmanuel Gomez
EMMANUEL GOMEZ (he/him) is a fourth-year English student minoring in Chicano Studies and a fellow in the Research department. As a student, he values representing his Mexican, Salvadoran, and Peruvian heritage through his dedicated studies, interest in serving others, and his passion to impact minorities through law and policy.
Being raised in the Inland Empire, he has witnessed the effects of mass warehouse expansion, leading to the construction of hazardous and pollutant facilities next to low-income communities. Emmanuel is committed to equal representation among minorities, improving education standards, and advocates for reduced surveillance of impoverished neighborhoods.
As a professional, Emmanuel has interned at the Riverside County Office of Education, under the Personnel Services division. His day-to-day tasks consisted of logging legal memorandums and settlement agreements, as well as working with employee files where he learned the skills of confidentiality and sensitivity. Emmanuel plans to bring the same discretion and rigor to policy research and analysis at LPPI.
Being the son of first-generation college parents, Emmanuel strives to give back and engage with his community, in an attempt to better understand the needs of the communities he comes from.
