Monica Salinas Field Fellowship

Alejandro Diaz (he/him) is a first-year Master of Public Policy candidate at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. As a Monica Salinas Field Fellow with the Latino Policy & Politics Institute, Alejandro is committed to advancing equitable policies and empowering marginalized communities.

Prior to graduate school, Alejandro worked as a Research and Policy Fellow at the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) in Washington, D.C. There, he conducted federal policy research on healthcare access, civic engagement, environmental justice, and bridging the digital divide, focusing on addressing inequalities faced by Latino communities and supporting government efforts for change.

Born and raised in Riverside, California, Alejandro comes from a Mexican immigrant family whose experiences instilled in him a commitment toward social justice. He earned his B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Public Affairs from the University of California, Los Angeles.
