MIGUEL ANGEL HERNANDEZ (he/him/his) is a first-year graduate student in the Master of Public Policy program at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. Miguel understands the hard work and perseverance required to overcome adversity and his goal is to lessen or eliminate the adversity that families face by improving their socioeconomic status. As an incoming Policy Fellow with the LPPI Research Department, Miguel strives to learn the necessary tools and skills that will allow him to assist and meet the needs of his community.

Miguel is currently working with a research team on a series of data briefs that highlight the importance and impact of latino workers in their respective regions. He also makes time to continue his work as an accounting clerk at Villa Esperanza Services, a nonprofit that empowers individuals with special needs, and volunteers at his local high school providing talks to students and preparing them for early adulthood.

As a first gen student and son of immigrant parents from Mexico, Miguel graduated from Cal-State Long Beach with a bachelor’s degree in Business Economics. During his free time, Miguel loves to spend time with his wife and plays soccer on the weekends.
