MIGUEL ANGEL HERNANDEZ (he/him/his) is a second-year Master of Public Policy student at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. He understands the hard work and perseverance required to overcome adversity and is committed to reducing the challenges families face by improving their socioeconomic opportunities.

Now in his second year with the Latino Policy and Politics Institute (LPPI) Research Department, Miguel contributed to five data briefs highlighting the Latino labor force across five different regions and looks forward to expanding his research experience further. For the 2025–26 academic year, he was awarded a fellowship with the Los Angeles County Office of Child Protection, where he is part of a team working to improve the County’s approach to Plans of Safe Care for infants exposed to substance use during pregnancy.

A proud first-generation student and the son of immigrant parents from Mexico, Miguel earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Economics from California State University, Long Beach. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and playing soccer on weekends.
