Policy Fellow

DEXTER DARMALI (he/him) is a senior studying Public Affairs in the UCLA Luskin School after transferring from Santa Monica College. He is an incoming Policy Fellow with the UCLA LPPI Mobilization Department.

Dexter is an executive director of the UCLA Pediatric AIDS Coalition where he helped raise over $120,000 last year to help create a HIV free generation. He is also a founding member of the UCLA chapter of Students Demand Action—a gun violence prevention group that works in political and community spaces. Dexter recently completed an internship with the Argentine National Senate where he was able to observe Argentina’s 2023 Presidential election and policy mechanisms to combat hyperinflation. He has also spent time interning in the U.S. Senate under Senator Dianne Feinstein. Dexter’s time spent in different styles of government has allowed him to understand policy from different vantage points.

Born to an Indonesian immigrant and American national in the suburbs of Chicago, Dexter is proud of his mixed background upbringing.
