Iris Kimberly Cantorán
IRIS KIMBERLY CANTORÁN (she/her/ella) is a first-generation undergraduate student majoring in Labor Studies and minoring in Chicana/o Studies. She is passionate about advancing the human rights of working class communities, with particular interests in social justice-oriented movements related to labor, immigration, and environmental equity. Iris Kimberly is a returning Policy Fellow working within the Research Department. At LPPI, she has supported the development of the Latino Data Hub. Most recently, she completed the Junior Summer Institute (JSI) at the University of Washington, and became a Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) alumni.
Iris Kimberly has a background in leadership and the arts. Currently, Iris Kimberly dances in Grupo Folklórico de UCLA. She is also a Co-Recruitment and Retention Manager working to foster invaluable networks of support and community through the organization’s internal Ahijadx mentoring program. Previously, Iris Kimberly has mentored first-generation students pursuing higher education through the Simon Scholars Program, and volunteered as a coach on bassoon performance to support her local school district’s expansion of music education.
Iris Kimberly grew up in north San Diego County, California. She is a daughter of immigrant parents from México, whom she admires dearly.
