SAMANTHA ALEJANDRE (she/her) is an incoming graduate student pursuing an M.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering program at the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering, specializing in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. As a Policy Fellow with LPPI’s Research Department, she is passionate about data transparency, building trust within communities, and uncovering hidden narratives within data that often marginalize individuals.
As a double Bruin, Samantha earned her B.S. in Data Theory with a minor in Data Science Engineering from UCLA in 2025. During her time at LPPI, she contributed to the Cal Wellness project by creating data briefs on the impacts of climate change in Latino communities across California, authoring technical documentation on the construction of socioeconomic, health, and environmental indicators for the Latino Climate and Health Dashboard, and conducting census tract-level data analysis for county factsheets.
Samantha is a proud first-generation college graduate and the daughter of Mexican immigrants. Having witnessed firsthand the barriers faced by historically marginalized populations, she is committed to using data to reveal unheard stories. Raised in South Los Angeles, she aspires to be able to give back to her community by ensuring equitable access to opportunities that empower individuals to reach their fullest potential.
