Pablo Alvarado
Pablo Alvarado is co-executive director of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), a coalition of worker centers and community organizations that builds leadership and power among day laborers, migrants, and low-wage workers. Pablo co-founded the Institute of Popular Education of Southern California in 1991, the day laborer band Los Jornaleros del Norte in 1996, and NDLON in 2001. Under his leadership, NDLON has become a leading national voice on immigration enforcement, workplace rights, and immigrant-led disaster response and recovery. His work has been recognized with the Rockefeller Foundation’s Next Generation Leadership Fellowship and the Ford Foundation’s Leadership for a Changing World award, and in 2005, TIME named him one of the 25 most influential Hispanics in the United States.
