Policy Fellow

JESUS ANGEL RODRIGUEZ (he/him/his) is a fourth-year student double majoring in Political Science and Public Affairs. As a Policy Fellow for the LPPI Leadership Programs Department, Angel is excited to work with increasing Hispanic advocacy and participation in government relations. He hopes to uplift his first generation and foster youth communities by sharing opportunities to engage in politics and resources aimed at removing barriers in higher education.

During his time at UCLA, Angel interned for the Bruin Guardian Scholars where he helped to not only provide academic and financial resources to former foster youth, but also create a sense of home on campus. He is also heavily involved in Student Government, acting as the Chief of Staff for the Internal Vice President’s office, he dedicated his time to ensuring all the needs of the ~33,000 undergraduate voices are met. During his time, he has traveled to Sacramento to advocate bills that promote equity for Latinos in the UC system, organized a variety of educational workshops, campaign for referendums that support minority communities, and engage with resource based campus organizations.
Interning for California Assemblymembers Rick Chavez Zbur and Sade Elhawary, Angel continues to center community voices in his policy work. He hopes to bridge the gap between government offices and the people they are meant to serve. Embarking on his post-graduate journey, he will be working as a Capital Fellow in Sacramento!
In his free time, Angel enjoys gardening, farming chickens, cooking traditional meals, watching movies, and exploring his city of Los Angeles.
