New research from the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute (LPPI), conducted in partnership with Inclusive Action for the City, found 46,000 fewer customer visits and an estimated $3.16 million in accumulated revenue losses within two weeks of the June 2025 enforcement activity. Researchers estimate that a similar pattern extrapolated county-wide could represent tens of millions of dollars in losses over a sustained period.
This webinar will feature Amada Armenta, director of LPPI and co-author of the report; Rudy Espinoza, president and CEO of Inclusive Action; community partners; and small-business owners, each discussing the report’s findings and the impacts of immigration enforcement on small businesses and entrepreneurs from their own vantage point.
The report also found that nearly a year later, 95% of business owners still report financial stress, and more than half say revenue no longer consistently covers operating costs. Owners describe depleted savings, accumulated debt, reduced staffing, worsening health, and postponed or abandoned plans for growth.
As immigration arrests continue, these conversations are crucial to informing how we respond to ensure that affected businesses and communities are supported and protected.
