Engaging with Policymakers and the Media

This full-day workshop gives scholars a hands-on introduction to effective strategies for policy and media engagement.

The UCLA Latino Policy & Politics Institute (LPPI) and the Los Angeles Unified Chapter of the Scholars Strategy Network are excited to host an in-person event on Engaging with Policymakers and the Media.

This full-day workshop gives scholars a hands-on introduction to effective strategies for policy and media engagement. It will provide practical, evidence-based steps to ensure that research findings and researchers’ perspectives inform policy. Topics will include how to begin and maintain productive relationships with policymakers, how to write and successfully pitch compelling, jargon-free op-eds, and how to map the networks of decision-makers and influencers around a research issue.

Introductory remarks will be given by Dr. Silvia R. González, LPPI’s director of research, and by professors Terrell Winder (UC Santa Barbara) and Hajar Yazdiha (University of Southern California), who co-lead the Los Angles Unified chapter of the Scholars Strategy Network.

Attendance is free and lunch will be provided.

Space is limited. Register now!
